Circular discus has filling hole to center right, figural relief, and narrow framing ring. Relief shows Hephaistos standing and facing forward, bearded and wearing a tunic. He holds staff in left hand and hammer in right hand; small two-tiered anvil at right foot. Plain shoulder has panels. Raised, kite-shaped nozzle with traces of burning. Underside of nozzle is angular; walls are straight. Narrow, pierced handle has two grooves and extends to 0.006 m above base-groove. Flat, circular base has single groove around incuse signature: ΚΡΗⲤΚΕ|ΝΤΟⲤ. Details are blunt; slight retouching over hair and face. Sparse medium-large globules in grooves on shoulder.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
7.5YR 7/4, pink. Early/Middle Roman Corinthian lamp fabric: slightly grainy and soft.
Preservation comment
Intact. Slight to moderate, extensive abrasion and chipping; moderate, scattered patches of encrustation.
