Description
Flat base marked by raised band forming low pedestal. Tall, cylindrical body that widens slightly. Somewhat narrow, irregular, horizontal flange with impressed piecrust decoration at 0.036 m below rim. Vertical, straight rim with sharp lip that slopes downward on interior. Sharp, horizontaly groove incised on outside of pedestal. Two wide, wavey lines with close peaks inscribed horizontally by finger around body at midpoint and at ca. 0.05 m below flange. Two wide grooves incised by finger around top surface of flange. Horizontal, spined, strap handle attached at midpoint of body over lower wavey groove. Seven horizontal zones of painted decoration extending from roughly 0.036 m above base up to lip: 1) intermittent row of angular, vertical, overlapping figures, perhaps large hatching and/or festoons, in black, red, or brown; 2) one tall, straight, solid band in black, red, or brown, just below and not overlapping lower wavey-line groove; 3) one row of very tall, thick loops hanging unevenly and obliquely from narrow peaks in black, red, or brown; 4) one somewhat tall, straight, solid band in black; 5) one row of thick, sideways chevrons in black or brown just below flange; 6) one somewhat tall, uneven, solid band in black or brown; 7) one short, even, solid band in black or brown just below lip.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 7.5YR 8/4, pink. Hard, fine Corinthian buff fabric but somewhat gritty; cf. KP1956-003, Corinthian transitional and early Broneer Type XXVII lamps. Dull, thin, uneven, somewhat flakey, faded paint in light brushstrokes, preserved in large patches. Slight horizontal scoring around body from knife-trimming.

Preservation comment
23 variously joining fragments preserve almost complete base, roughly one third of body, and over three quarters of rim. Roughly one-quarter to one-third of body restored with white plaster. Moderate to heavy, extensive abrasion and slight, extensive pitting and scoring; large, moderate patches of encrustation around base.
