Description
Plain, slightly concave base. Globular to bulbous body with maximum diameter in lower third. Tall, cylindrical neck, slightly constricted at base. Everted rim with slightly angular lip. Thin turning scratches across body; single spiral groove at articulation of shoulder and neck. Streaks of excess clay on upper neck.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 5YR 7/6, reddish yellow. Slip: 2.5YR 5/8, red. Medium fine clay, consistently fired, with rare, small, subrounded, light (“calcitic”) and very rare, small, angular to subangular, grayish to black rocky inclusions; infrequent, small, round voids. Dip-slipped from rim to base of neck. Thin, streaky, semiglossy slip.
Preservation comment
Intact. Slight, sparse abrasion and pitting; small, very sparse traces of encrustation.
