Cup or chalice. Flaring rim with grooves above and below; wide convex band forms transition to outer wall, then a set of grooves (one deep) above row of ovolo. The single sherd preserving one molded figure depicts a naked male striding to left of scene with cloth draped over left arm and strap over right shoulder and diagonally across torso; right arms extends to next motif, which is absent but for uncertain blob in front of figure.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Very slightly granular fabric consistently fired to very light red; no visible inclusions, though the sherd is slightly encrusted by plaster which obscures the details of the fabric. The darker red slip is thin and very distinct from the fabric.
Preservation comment
Two non-joining small sherds, one body and one rim, from same vessel (as indicated by circumstance of excavation?). Slight, extensive abrasion and flaking/pitting across surface with rare large chips; somewhat worn breaks. Frequent small chips on surface show fabric under slip. The appliqué figure is quite well preserved, though with wear at prominent points.
