Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: fine, chalky texture, smooth fracture, uncommon small, subrounded, well sorted, white (calcareous) inclusions, rare black bits; pale buff. Consistent firing; slightly soft. Thin, unevem, matte slip, grayish red, poorly adhering to surface in flecks. Cleanly smoothed seam. Flattened, blobby contours of relief on shoulder.
Preservation comment
Three joining sherds preserve most of discuss, entire shoulder and handle, and small part of back lower wall. Moderate, extensive abrasion and rare pitting and chipping; small-flaking slip very poorly preserved; worn breaks; scattered specks of encrustation.
