Description
Motif of hoplomachus and Samnite.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: buff, slightly pinkish; fine, somewhat fine; rare, small, poorly sorted, angular and subangular, white inclusions). Firing: consistent). Surface treatment: brown slip, with orange tinge; inside and outside; thick but variable thickness, semilustrous. Fingerprints on interior from pressing into mold.
Preservation comment
Three joining sherds preserve ca. 65% of top and adjacent sides, including most of discus and shoulder but missing front left part and nozzle. Extensive, moderate to severe abrasion and pitting; worn breaks; faint cloud of grayish discoloration.
