Description
Hemispherical bowl. Low ring foot. Walls display molded relief. Description of decoration adapted from KenchreaiIV, p. 17-18: “A plain medallion foot is encircled by five stylized laurel leaves. Between each leaf is a fan palmette above three dots and flanked by trefoil leaves. A potter’s signature between the leaves reads as ΑΡΙϹΤ[ΟΝΕΙΚΟΥ. A molded ring marks the limit of the decoration.“
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fine, light red fabric with laminar break and frequent tiny micaceous glistening bits; slightly darker core. Slip is thickest on interior where it is slightly darker red; nearer in color to fabric on exterior, though also more worn.
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves 80% of base and large part of adjacent lower wall. Extensive, slight abrasion and large area of erosion with flaking; red slip is worn, particularly on high point of molded decoration but extant on all surface; worn breaks; extensive film of encrustation.
