Description
Large bowl. Heavy ring foot; rounded walls. Bottom has very slight, irregularly formed triangular “button” at center. Incuse stamp at center of floor: grape cluster. Slight ridge on floor (outside diameter of foot beneath) forms transition to deeper part of floor, marked by spiral turning mark. There are slight traces of three kiln spacers. No trace of spacers observable on foot so perhaps this piece was at bottom of stack?
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fine reddish fabric with rare, small, subangular lime chunks. Interior slip is thick and holds some of its original gloss.
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves floor and base. Slight, sparse abrasion, long scratches across surfaces, and deep chips around edges; clean breaks; scattered specks of encrustation. Slip relatively well preserved on all surfaces.
