Athenian lamp sim. KerameikosXVI, pp. 261-262, no. 4094, pl. 70 (B. Böttger).
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Typical Late Roman “red“ lamp fabric (brownish red, heavy; irregular fracture; soapy texture?), firing, and surface. Thin but distinct joining ridge and webbing; clean alignment at back handle. Faint relief from very worn original (or mold).
Preservation comment
Intact. Slight, extensive erosion and somewhat sparse abrasion, minor chipping around edges; cloud of black discoloration with distinct margin crossing top to bottom (secondary scorching?).
