Description
Hemispherical bowl with very low ring foot. Sharply rounded rim turns inward very slightly. Rounded walls curve down to just outside very minimal base, which is surrounded by a very narrow flat plain. Single offset within base on underside. Double dipping steak is offset from center. Due to wear of slip, turning bands are visible on exterior, though likely not originally so much.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Although affected by marine exposure, the identifying aspect of a very fine light fabric and dark red slip remain clear.
Preservation comment
Six joining sherds preserve ca. 25% rim in two sections, full profile, and entire base. Slight to moderate, somewhat extensive abrasion and rare scratching and minor around rim; somewhat worn breaks; faint gray clouding across surface. Slip and fabric are worn and lightened in color due to long marine submersion.
