Description
Large, deep single handed cup with rounded biconical profile. Short, slight thickened rim sits above sharp in-turn at very top of wall, with tooled groove further separating rim from wall. Single loop handle with nearly round profile rises to same level as rim. Complete removed of surface from marine exposure emphasizes the slight bands formed during turning on wheel.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Very fine fabric with no distinguishable inclusions now discolored by marine exposure.
Preservation comment
Two joining sherds preserve ca. 60% of rim, one entire handle, and full profile to near base. Extensive, severe erosion and abrasion with pitting, so that original surface is completely removed; worn breaks; one large patch of black discoloration. Weathering consistent with long marine submersion.
