Handle has bifurcated or stirrup-shaped base and hollow, conical handle that flares to thickened rim with sharp lip, triangular on interior. This form of handle usually attached to straight flaring upper wall of casserole.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
10R 6/4 (pale red). Slight granular fabric fired to reddish brown with frequent very small angular sandy inclusions, many of which are glistening “quartz“. Upper surface gray in part, otherwise essential plain.
Preservation comment
One entire handle; no part of wall survives. Slight, extensive wear and slight, sparse chipping; sparse specks of encrustation.
