Description
Amphora. Tall rim, convex outer face, with rounded lip, thickened on inside. Characteristic elongated, cup-shaped mouth for type.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Pale grayish brown; surface shows thin, uneven wash fired by slight reduction to a faint green hue. Somewhat hard, granular. Common, small to medium (and rarely large), angular and subangular, lime chunks, larger ones spalling; uncommon, small, subrounded, black inclusions and a few dark red; very rare, isolated, large dark gray stones; no visible mica. Surface shows Smoothing marks around lower outside rim.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves ca. 20% of rim with profile from lip to neck. Slight, somewhat sparse abrasion with uncommon gouging and minor chipping around edges; slightly worn breaks; widespread but then patches of encrustation.
