Brownish red to orange but in places surface fired more red; slightly coarse, hard, with slightly hackly break and rough surface; frequent, varied, tiny sand particles; uncommon, small, rounded lime; small, angular quartz; small shell fragments; and frequent tiny reddish and black bits; irregular voids observed at surface. Bands of excess clay around upper shoulder/neck up to lip. Northern Palestinian: Caesarea to Akko.
Preservation comment
Two joining sherds (563+1274) preserve 30% of rim and large part of upper body; both handles survive (1197/1568). Slight abrasion and minor chipping around edges; slightly worn breaks; scattered but frequent thin patches of encrustation.
