Description
Amphora. Tall, steeply conical neck. Short, slightly flaring rim with plain lip, rounded and thickened on outer face and sharp inner edge; distinct joing between neck and rim. Handles attach at middle to upper neck; oval in section, with irregular, shallow grooves all around.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Gritty non-southern Argolid LRA2 fabric. Reddish brown; light wash same color as fabric; consistently fired. Coarse, hard fabric; hackly break; very rough surface texture. Uncommon to common, poorly sorted, medium and rare, isolated, subangular, large lime chunks; rare lime specks; uncommon, small, angular and rounded, gray, black, and red inclusions; very rare, isolated, angular, yellow (lime?)stone; rare, small flakes of silvery mica; varied, small to medium voids in various forms, some elongated (burned off chaff?).
Preservation comment
One large sherd preserves 10% of rim, adjacent middle to upper neck, and one upper handle attachment. Slight, somewhat extensive abrasion with minor scoring; slightly worn breaks; faint white clouding (incipient encrustation?).
