Flat pantile, thick walled, with thin film of mortar on bottom from attachment to roof. Tall, thick (0.025-0.027 m) flange/rim along edge, rounded over top and inward sloping. Slight scoring on top face. Large patches of mortar on bottom face from attachment to roof.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Buff with a tinge of red (2.5YR 6/6). Dense, soft, slightly coarse fabric, gritty, with frequent large, light and reddish, angular inclusions; infrequent mostly red but also black and white, small to tiny bits; and rare larger “lime“ chunks, a few exploding at the surface. Very, dull, even slip same color as fabric painted on bottom face. Note: this is not a Greek fabric (cf. Koutsongila), appears Roman.
Preservation comment
One small fragment preserves part of tile with one finished edge. Slight, sparse abrasion and pitting; sparse specks to small patches of encrustation.
