Attic red-figure krater. Black glazed interior at least on upper half of body showing brushstrokes; possibly reserved at bottom of fragment. Exterior preserves part of red figure scene. Parts of human (female?) head turned in profile to left, frontal neck and upper torso draped in chiton, and proper right arm raised up beside head. Figure perhaps moving right, turning back with hand raised to address/call figures not preserved to the left of the scene. Fine black lines delineate preserved parts of head (mouth, part of nose), neckline, and sleeve of tunic. Traces of faint wash lines delineating vertical folds of drapery. Late Classical.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fine, very soft clay with some tiny voids and inclusions. Thin, somewhat even to mottled, semiglossy black glaze.
Preservation comment
One small body sherd. Slight, extensive abrasion; worn breaks; sparse specks to patches of encrustation.
