Middle and upper portion of Corinthian half-pilaster capital with finely sculpted floral motifs. Raised band runs along right edge (W. 0.016; D. 0.003) and another sloping slightly outward runs along top edge (L. 0.011; D. 0.002); just below latter is slightly concave raised fascia (L. 0.007; D. 0.002). Central design is sculpted in relief (D. 0.004). Half acanthus leaves on right and left. Growing out from behind right leaf is curved stem with fluted sheath (cauliculus). This ends in bud with three petals (calyx) that opens into double blossom of helices rendered as grooved strips that arc outward and terminate in spirals. Carving is sharp and design is symmetrical but forms are schematic. Stone’s back has central raised panel (D. 0.002–0.003), roughly worked with pick, and specks of mortar from attachment to wall. Stone indicates was situated in a corner. It would have surmounted a fluted, boxed quarter column.
