Corner of rectangular stone, probably millstone. Rectilinear frame of broad
arms (W. 0.085–0.010) with face marked by sharp, deep groove, within which stone
slopes gently to rectangular opening in middle. Back is slightly concave (D. 0.006).
Surface shows striations and pits from use, natural erosion, or both. This might
have been a grinding stone with narrow slit in middle to serve as hopper, in which
case it represents a common type of rectangular, funnel-shaped millstone known
from other Mediterranean sites.
Preservation description
One fragment broken at both ends preserves front, back, and two sides. Slight, sparse pitting and chipping; very thin, extensive encrustation.
