Description
Oval to tear-shaped outline. Circular, concave, plain discus has central filling hole, three small holes around, raised rim, and framing ring. Sloping shoulder has herringbone in relief and double circles flanking nozzle. Rounded nozzle framed by double angled grooves has small airhole at top. Narrow, pierced handle with two grooves above and flanking grooves.
Fabric, firing, surface
Typical fabric, firing, and surface treatment for ware. 2.5YR 6/4, light reddish brown. Slip: 2.5YR 6/6, light red. Thin, even, dull slip as wash preserved in patches across discus.
Preservation description
Three joining fragments preserve entire discus, ca. 50% of rim, and very small part of nozzle. Slight, sparse abrasion; mostly clean breaks; frequent traces of encrustation.
