Description
Tear-shaped outline. Circular, slightly concave discus has figural relief and raised ring. Relief depicts dolphin swimming right with short, pointed jaws, teeth, and large ventral fin. Shoulder has herringbone in relief. Thick, partly pierced handle has two grooves above.
Fabric, firing, surface
Typical fabric, firing, and surface treatment for ware. Fabric: 5YR 6/6, reddish yellow. Slip: 2.5YR 5/8, red. Thin, even, dull slip.
Preservation description
Two small, nonjoining fragments preserve 25% of shoulder, small part of discus, and upper handle. Minor chipping with somewhat worn breaks; slight patches of encrustation.
