Description
Domed body has relief of irregular globules, some slightly angular, representing a pine cone. Filling hole near apex or center. Plain, vertical suspension handle would have been situated slightly forward of center on top. This type has long, rounded nozzle with channel (cf. Firmalampen, Loeschcke Typus X).
Fabric, firing, surface
Fabric: 2.5YR 6/6, light red. Slip: 10R 5/8, red. Hard, dense, medium fine fabric; smooth to slightly granular break, with somewhat rough surface texture; frequent, tiny to small, subrounded, white and black inclusions and small, sub angular, red bits. Somewhat thick, even, dull to semilustrous slip. North Italian-Central European?
Preservation description
One large fragment preserves handle and central part of discus. Heavy abrasion and sparse gouging.
