Description
Tear-shaped outline. Tear-shaped, concave, plain discus with central filling hole, two holes above and one below with narrow groove to nozzle, raised rim, and prominent, rounded framing ring. Slightly sloping shoulder has herringbone in low relief. Rounded nozzle; traces of burning. Thick, solid handle has two grooves.
Fabric, firing, surface
5YR 7/6, reddish yellow. Hard, medium fine fabric with vaguely conchoidal break; few inclusions. Unglazed. Late Corinthian white fabric.
Preservation description
Five large fragments preserve ca. 66% of lamp, including parts of discus, nozzle, and base and entire handle. Moderate, extensive abrasion with pitting and especially on top; mostly clean breaks; extensive flaking and gouging on bottom.
