Description
Circular, shallow, plain discus with large central filling hole and single uneven framing groove. Plain, wide, somewhat flat shoulder with beveled edge has flat panels with X’s framed by vertical grooves. Kite-shaped(?) nozzle; traces of burning. Ring handle has two grooves and deep flanking grooves. Lower handle has X framed by horizontal grooves and touches base. Body below suture runs mostly straight down to base. Flat base has single circular groove around incuse signature: ΔΙΟΝΥϹΙΟ|Υ (angular serifs).
Fabric, firing, surface
7.5YR 7/4, pink. Typical Early-Middle Roman Corinthian lamp fabric: slightly pale brown; slightly soft.
Preservation description
Eleven fragments, eight joining, preserve 33% of discus, ca. 50% of shoulder, small part of nozzle, entire handle, and 33% of base. Slight, sparse abrasion and rare pitting; worn breaks.

Chronology comment
Final generation of Broneer XXVII: no figural decoration or discus framing ring; flat panels but sloppy decoration; asymmetrical form; workshop of Dionysios active during 3rd century, and latest product (late 3rd/early 4th) is imitation of Athenian type of Athena Promachus + wreath.
