Description
Uneven oval, flat discus has low relief of Latin cross with raised rim and flaring arms, wedges in upper quadrants and holes in lower quadrants, and framing ring. Shoulder has shallow groove with single row of raised triple circles (eight per side?). Narrow, short, solid handle with single deep groove that opens into a fissure on top; lower handle extends down wall toward base.
Fabric, firing, surface
7.5YR 8/4, pink. Soft, slightly coarse fabric with common, very small to small, subrounded to angular, white, gray, red, and black inclusions; uncommon, very small, subrounded to angular voids. Unglazed. Athenian?
Preservation description
One large fragment preserves entire handle and 33% of shoulder and discus. Slight, sparse abrasion; worn breaks; thin, widespread film of encrustation.
