Description
Tear-shaped outline. Circular, concave discus has central hole with raised rim, irregular rays with flattened ends (close to dimpled), and rounded framing ring. Sloping shoulder has herringbone in relief. Rounded nozzle framed by double angled grooves has airhole at top, one double circle below, and short, narrow channel to wickhole; traces of burning.
Fabric, firing, surface
Typical fabric, firing, and surface treatment for ware. 10R 6/6, light red. Slip: 10R 5/6. red. Hard, fine fabric; smooth break and texture. Thin, even, dull slip preserved only in traces.
Preservation description
Three joining fragments preserve ca. 75% of discus and 50% of rim. Slight, sparse abrasion and pitting; worn breaks; very sparse encrustation.
