Description
Oval, slightly concave discus has figural relief, filling hole left, raised rim and rounded framing ring. Relief depicts dolphin swimming right with tail curved upward to right and trident raising above head. The eye, mouth, and pectoral fin are simple forms.
Fabric, firing, surface
Typical fabric, firing, and surface treatment for ware. 10R 6/4, pale red. Slip: 10R 5/6, red. Hard, fine fabric; smooth break and texture. Thin, even, dull slip.
Preservation description
One large fragment preserves central part of discus. Slight, widespread abrasion; worn breaks; slight encrustation.
