Late Roman Athenian Lamp, late unglazed (“postglaze”)
Description
Flat base has double almond-shaped grooves around incuse design of palm branch. Single circles added during retouching over grooves.
Fabric, firing, surface
Typical fabric, firing, and surface treatment for ware. 10R 7/6, light red. Hard, fine fabric with smooth break. Unglazed.
Preservation description
One fragment preserves ca. 25% of base and lower wall. Mostly clean surface and breaks with rare specks to small patches of encrustation.
