Description
Large, deep, fluted bowl. Thick-walled, curved body rises to slightly flaring but inwardly inclined rim with flat upper surface and slightly flattened outer edge. Exterior has wide, shallow flutes and arrises curving left, widening and rounded just below rim (W. 0.050; D. 0.005). Traces of vertical tooling with toothed chisel between top of flutes and rim. Large decorative bowl or font resembling a perirrhanterion, distinct from less finely worked marble vessels of more utilitarian character.
Preservation description
Two joining fragments (226+246) broken on all sides preserve small part of rim. Very slight, extensive abrasion and pitting; very slight, sparse encrustation.
