Description
Cup. Globular body. Thin groove on upper body just above lower handle attachment. Convex, vertical rim; tapering lip with groove on outside. Vertical handles. In barbotine: abstract whorls made by thumb in floral patterns(?). Dip-slipped to lower body.
Fabric, firing, surface
Fabric: 7.5YR 7/4, pink. Slip: 2.5YR 4/8, red, to 2.5YR 3/1, dark reddish gray. Hard, fine fabric with common mica and rare, subrounded, white inclusions erupting through surface. Thin, mottled, semilustrous slip, flaky, becoming black in places on exterior and interior.
Preservation comment
Seven large joining fragments preserve ca. 33% of body and 25% of rim, including almost full profile. Slight pitting and gouging.
