Description
Corinthian-style tegula. Wide pan and quadrangular lip, slightly rounded across top.
Fabric, firing, surface
Grayish red fabric, consistently fired(?) but discolored from weathering. Very coarse, hard, with hackly break and rough texture. Frequently, well sort, small to medium, angular red (terracotta?) and gray inclusions. Imported. Cf. KCMS Ar0005 and -0006.
Preservation description
One fragment preserves small part of pan and lip. Moderate, extensive abrasion and erosion(?); worn breaks; extensive, thick encrustation from prolonged marine submersion.
