Description
Large stopper cut from Laconian-style rooftile.
Fabric, firing, surface
Reddish yellow, fired darker red at exterior surface (2-3 mm). Slightly soft, somewhat fine, with mostly smooth break. Uncommon small limestone chunks; rare lime specks; very rare, dark gray, subangular inclusions; very rare flecks of golden mica; rare, irregular porosities in section. Regional.
Preservation description
Intact. Slight, somewhat sparse abrasion with rare scoring and erosion; worn breaks; faint, thin, somewhat extensive encrustation from prolonged marine submersion.
