Description
Circular outline. Circular discus has flat framing ring. Rounded, outward sloping shoulder has large ovules and “ears” in shape of arching band with volutes at transition to side; horizontal orientation to body but rising slightly above shoulder.
Fabric, firing, surface
Fabric: 2.5YR 6/6, light red. Glaze: 10R 5/8, red. Thick, semilustrous, mottled red glaze over white slip, extends inside over upper wall.
Preservation comment
Three joining sherds (1989-008) and one small, nonjoining sherd (1989-012) preserve ca. 40% of shoulder with both ears, part of nozzle, and contiguous walls almost to base. Slight, sparse abrasion and pitting.
