Description
Circular outline. Circular discus with rosette or scallop with rim and raised, rounded framing ring. Rounded shoulder with indistinct rim has single row of contiguous circles. Ring handle with wide hole with two lateral grooves attaches from framing ring to midpoint of wall.
Fabric, firing, surface
Fabric: 10YR 8/4, very pale brown. Slip: 7.5YR 5/6, strong brown to 10YR 4/4, dark yellowish brown. Early Roman Corinthian lamp fabric but relatively unrefined: very fine, pale, somewhat soft; slightly granular break; uncommon to common, very small, rounded to subrounded, calcareous inclusions; rare, tiny, yellow and gray(?) bits. Thin, matte, uneven slip everywhere detaching in small flakes, preserved in sparse patches around handle and upper wall.
