Wide body with rounded, gently sloping shoulder. Slightly convex cylindrical neck. Vertical loop handles, oval in section, attach from upper neck to mid-shoulder. Dipinto in large red letters across upper neck: ΞΚΕ̣[.] (volume: 25(+?) sextarii).
Fabric, firing, surface
5YR 7/4, pink (exterior surface, weathered); 5YR 7/6-7/8, reddish yellow (core and interior surface). Hard, smooth, consistently fired, fine to medium fine fabric. Splintery break. Uncommon, well sorted, tiny black and gray bits; rare, well sorted, tiny, golden micaceous flakes visible on surface; rare to very rare, well sorted, subangular and subrounded, white particles (calcareous); very rare, small to medium, angular, bluish gray chunks; very rare, small, subangular, red chunks.
Preservation description
One large sherd preserves ca. 20% of upper shoulder, lower neck, and one handle with both attachments. Slight, sparse abrasion; somewhat worn breaks; sparse specks of encrustation. Black speckling (old post-depositional).
