Description
Patera. Floor and based molded separately in high relief as attached emblema and disk; two small airholes pierce emblema. Emblema: lion or bull standing right on floor, surrounded by single row of raised circles. Base: large 18-petalled rosette (with smaller interior rose and central button?); surrounded by three small ridges and one tall rounded rim as ring foot. Slipped on exterior and interior (where only traces survive).
Fabric, firing, surface
Pale yellowish brown with a tinge of gray. Hard, consistently fired; smooth to vaguely conchoidal break; common, tiny to small well sorted, mostly subrounded and tabular inclusions (dark red or brown to dark gray or black), few calcareous bits, some spalling. Thin, even, matte slip, peeling in flecks; dark brownish gray.
Preservation description
One large sherd preserves ca, 15% of floor and base. Slight to moderate, extensive abrasion with minor chipping; worn breaks; thin, extensive encrusatation.
