Technique
Underside with incuse stamp shows very selective retouching. Surface is very smooth and edges of molding are smooth: from use? Top side is rough and uneven with brush marks. Knob handle is handcrafted and luted onto the top, with slight gouging and excess clay spread out over the base.

Fabric, firing, surface
Dark yellow with a tinge of pink (7.5YR 7/4) at surface (0.5-1 mm); core fired slightly darker and pale gray in places. Very hard, somewhat coarse; smooth, clear break that is vaguely conchoidal with linear patterning. Uncommon, tiny to small, well sorted inclusions visible in surface and breaks: mostly subangular to subrounded, rocky bits, dark (gray or dark brown); rare soft, somewhat amorphous reddish bits; rare, small lime bits. Very rare (a few) tiny golden micaceous sparkles visible at surface. No slip. Unrefined regional utilitarian fabric, almost a cooking ware.
Preservation description
One large sherd preserves large part of mold and entire handle. Surface overall in very good condition, with mostly clean breaks; rare, small, thin patches of encrustation.
