Late Antique Casserole
Description
Casserole. Curving lower body to vertical, thickened rim that is outwardly folded down and then up; grooved on top, rounded outer edge; rounded edge below, offset from wall by groove.
Fabric, firing, surface
Granular fabric is reddish-brown with frequent small light angular inclusions. Interior surface and top of rim are pale brown; exterior is grey; all extant surfaces have frequent silvery mica. Light brush marks on all extant surfaces. Aegean/western Asia Minor.
Preservation description
One sherd preserves ca. 5-8% of rim and small part of upper body. Slight, somewhat sparse abrasion with minor chipping; worn breaks; scattered, small specks to patches of encrustation.
