Late Roman-Early Byzantine Cooking Pot
Fabric, firing, surface
Fabric: 2.5YR 4/6 (red), fired to 2.5YR 3/1 (dark reddish gray) at surface (1-2mm). Hard, coarse; somewhat hackly break and rough surface texture. Common, small, poorly sorted, subangular mixed inclusions: white, pale buff or yellow, dark gray to black; rare, medium-sized, angular, offwhite chunks (limestone?) visible at surface.
Preservation comment
One sherd preserves ca. 12% of rim and uppermost shoulder and upper part of one handle. Slight to moderate, somewhat extensive abrasion; worn breaks; extensive, slight encrustation.
