Contains both very sparse debris (some funerary) from Early-Middle Roman ritual activity inside building and dense pile of many broken lamps (funerary?) of Late Roman date.
Collection of numerous large lamp sherds mixed with small pottery sherds and sparse funerary debris, and interspersed sediment.
Location in unit
Located throughout interior of Building A1, with a distinct circular concentration from back (north) end of building to center, over circular pit and spreading out more diffusely across front (south) end of building.
Soil matrix
Mostly brown to dark grayish brown (7.5YR 5/2, 6/3, 10YR 4/2, 4/3, 6/3), somewhat to very loose, silt to silty sand with medium gravel (disintegrated from mortar) and small to medium cobbles (spalled from bedrock). Looseness increases with proximity to walls. Pockets of weak red (2.5YR 4/2), coarser sediment in north building and pink (7.5YR 6/2), more compact, finer sediment in south building.
