Recent and ongoing formation with much residue of all periods, mostly Roman.
Explanation of deposition
Colluvium from topsoil down to bedrock and sparse patches of earlier colluvium (Stratum C1) accumulated across central slope. Contains residual earlier material and material representing activity throughout Byzantine to Modern era.
Soil matrix
Heterogeneous but predominantly brown to light yellowish brown (10YR 4/3, 5/3, 5/8, 6/3, 6/4) with sparse pockets of pink, gray, and olive, somewhat to very loose, silty sand with many rocks from pebbles to small boulders (1-20 cm range). Circular patch of fine ash with burned animal bones south of Building C1 represents recent campfire.
