- Description
- Popular Early-Middle Roman form for transport of southern Gaulish wine with a wide range of export. Made in southern France, with major production in the Narbonne valley. Wide-bodied vessel that tapers to flat ring base, with low sloping shoulder, squat cylindrical neck, simple rounded or beaded rim, grooved loop handles. Cream to creamy pink fabric, hard and rough textured but fine, with quartz, lime, varied rocks, and faintly micaceous.
