Late Antique shape-family of amphoras produced in North Africa (Byzacena-Zeugitana) that were widely distributed in the Mediterranean basin. Large, cylindrical body with a rounded to sloping shoulder, has a flaring, outwardly thickened, overhanging rim on a cylindrical to truncoconical neck and a short, small toe with a collar above. Over 20 variants (A-V) in rim and toe form have been identified. Typical regional fabric. Late 5th-7th century.
