Middle-Late Roman to Early Byzantine form produced chiefly in southern Palestine into the Sinai and Negev. The form has an elongated and cylindrical body with a rounded to steep shoulder and a conical base (“cigar-shaped“), a short band rim, and ring handles; prominent wheel-ridging around shoulder and near base. The usual fabric from the Ashdod-Ashkelon-Gaza production zone is drab brown and sandy, with bits of pale limestone.
