Often referred to generically as Arretine Ware, a term that precisely indicates products of Arrezzo, whereas some pottery classified as Italian Sigillata was made, for example, elsewhere in Etruria and the Po Valley.
Fine forms of Early Roman table ware with distinctive red gloss produced in Italy, especially Etruria and the Po Valley but also Campania. Production and distribution in western Mediterranean dated ca. mid-1st century B.C.E.-early 3rd century C.E., but export to Aegean basin peaked late 1st century BCE-1st century CE, alongside and later eclipsed by eastern red-gloss wares.
