- Late Roman Athenian lamp, late glazed
- Description
- Tear-shaped(?) outline. Slightly sloping shoulder has wavy lines. Low, wide, solid handle with three grooves pinched and misaligned with seem. Very slight webbing.
- Fabric, firing, and surface description
- Fabric: 5YR 7/4, pink. Slip: 10YR 4/6, dark yellowish brown. Late Roman Athenian fabric: hard, slightly coarse clay with common, subangular to subrounded, very small white and black inclusions. Thin, uneven, semilustrous slip, almost a wash, preserved in traces on handle and exterior.
- Preservation comment
- One small fragment preserves small part of shoulder, nearly entire handle, and less than one quarter of body. Slight, extensive abrasion and chipping; slight to moderate, extensive encrustation.
