Typological identification
Early/Middle Roman Asia Minor Lamp, red-on-white
Description
Circular outline. Circular, deeply concave discus with framing groove. Narrow, slightly rounded, plain shoulder with faint(?) circles flanking handle. Narrow, pierced handle with two grooves attaches at framing groove.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 2.5YR 6/4, light reddish brown. Slip: 5YR 3/2, dark reddish brown. White underslip. Semiglossy, thick, somewhat uneven, slightly flakey slip on exterior.
Preservation comment
Two joining sherds preserve small part of discus, one third of shoulder, and upper handle. Slight, somewhat extensive abrasion and pitting.
