Description
Wide circular outline. Circular, deep concave discus has central filling hole with recessed then raised rim, wide rays, and rounded framing ring. Broad shoulder has schematic grapevine motif of two leaves and two clusters per side. Flat, kite-shaped nozzlel traces of burning. Tall, narrow, small-pierced handle with two grooves attaches at framing ring and extends almost to base-groove. Circular, flat, plain base has single circular groove around faint incuse signature: ΕΠΑΓΑΘΟΥ. Details are blunt and somewhat irregular. Sparse clay nodules.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
10YR 7/4, very pale brown. Middle Roman Athenian lamp fabric. Unglazed.
Preservation comment
Intact but missing small parts of discus and nozzle. Moderate to severe, extensive abrasion; moderate, extensive patches of encrustation.
