Typological identification
Early/Middle Roman Asia Minor Lamp, red-on-white
Description
Circular outline. Circular discus with flat, narrow framing ring. Broad shoulder has large ovules. Ring handle with two grooves attaches at discus rim and midway to base.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fabric: 2.5YR 6/8, light red. Slip: 10R 5/8, red. White underslip. Ephesian fabric. Semiglossy, thick, somewhat uneven slip, flakey.
Preservation comment
One small fragment preserves small part of shoulder and upper handle. Slight, extensive abrasion; scattered specks of encrustation.
