Conservation
2023 (July): Sherds refitted with clear synthetic resin (UHU).
Description
Flanged bowl. High rim with round lip; flange is angular and sharply tooled underneath. Ring foot with rounded outer edge and straight sloping inner face. Very slight button within base on lower face.
Fabric, firing, and surface description
Fine, consistently fired fabric with very rare inclusions; voids visible in breaks and rare small voids on surfaces. Slip is somewhat thick, even, and fired glossy on interior, with drip marks and plain patches towards base on exterior.
Preservation comment
Three joining sherds and one non-joining sherd preserve ca. 20% of rim, most of body, and entire base. Extensive, slight to moderate abrasion with some scratching and rare gouging; worn breaks; thin film of encrustation around upper surface. Slip severely worn away toward floor, though postdeposition adhesion of fine roots has left a thin network of extant slip in this worn area. Extensive, slight to moderate abrasion with scratching; slightly worn breaks.
